A Spectacular photo of a Super Moon rising above the horizon

February 21, 2016 by Jeffrey Rolinc

How amazing is it that we get to witness two spectacular events in the same month? When the moon is full and appears larger and brighter than usual, it is known as a Supermoon. This phenomenon occurs because the moon is closer to Earth than at any other time. The second full moon is even more special, because it’s a rare occurrence that happens only once in a blue moon. Literally!  It is a beautiful spectacle that captivates the eye.

The Friends of Hagerman NWR Nature Photography Club hosted the event for both club members and local photographers.

The photographer captured this stunning view of the Hagerman Wildlife Refuge from across Lake Texoma in northern Texas.
